The Base

The_BaseAffectionately called 'The Sandbag Bunker' due to the amount of sandbags that were needed to be filled to construct the base and line all of the fox holes surrounding the base. It is located on top of a hill in the middle of the wide open field. The base itself is approximately 8' x 12' feet and stands over eight feet tall. The outside of the base is surrounded with a single layer of sandbags (after all this is airsoft). Surrounding the base are several fox holes approximately four to five feet deep and the tops are lined with sandbags.

During Operation: Insertion the base represented LZ-X ray and was the primary location for the American's during the ten hour struggle. For Operation: Clean Sweep the base was named 'Fire Base Charlie' and was the staging area for the American's during the entire op. It was during this op that the Vietcong over ran 'Fire Base Charlie' and drove the American's from the area. When it came time for Operation: Iron Triangle it was the first rotation objective to regain control of this important strategic asset.

Black Ops Airsoft is constantly attempting to improve the playing field. Future plans for this area are to create tower that will over look the entire field. Also the number of foxholes will be increased and they will be improved for a better defensive position. Also there are plans for another base the same size to be built on the same hill top.

Underground Bunker

Underground_BunkerDirectly across the field from the Sandbag Bunker is a second base known as 'The Dugout Bunker". It is approximately the same size as the Sandbag Bunker but this is buried five feet underground and the top edges are lined with sandbags. A deep trench runs out of the bunker and into the open field giving the occupants a direct path of travel. Also there is a back entrance to the bunker. This base is located on top of a hill (a though a bit smaller) just like the other bunker.

During Operation: Insertion this was the main base for the Vietcong. At the end of the day the American's assaulted this position and the Vietcong were allowed to defend it. It made for an intense fire fight. Since that time this base has seen plenty of skirmishes and smaller fire fights. It is because of these past experiences BOA has learned several ways to improve this location and improve upon its defense.

Future plans for this site include covering the trench giving it a more underground feel as well as creating another dugout section the same size as the original. Eventually there will be trenches and covered tunnels leading from one position to another. Also there will be a look out tower built between the two bunkers similar to the one that will be built at the Sandbag Bunker.
