BOA: Annual K-9 Seminar

New York State Sheriff’s Association Annual K-9 Seminar
Hosted at Black Ops Airsoft in Penn Yan

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office has had a long outstanding history in the use of Police Canines. As a specialty unit assigned to the Law Enforcement Bureau, the Deputies assigned are on patrol with their Canine partners. Each team is certified in patrol, tracking, and narcotics and maintains their proficiency in weekly training under the supervision of two New York State Bureau for Municipal Training Council (DCJS) certified trainers/examiners. Today the Sheriff’s Office has two certified K-9 teams:  Deputy Sheriff Brandon Jensen and K-9 Argo (Belgium Malinois)Deputy Sheriff Brian Winslow and K-9 Orry (German Shepard).

This unit also hosts the New York State Sheriff’s Association Annual K-9 seminar in conjunction with the North American Police Working Dog Association (NAPWDA). This seminar has seen many K-9 teams from around the northeast and sponsors some of the foremost instructors in the United States in this field of expertise.

The North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA) was formed in 1977 and is composed of law enforcement officers throughout the United States and several other countries. Our mission is that we are Dedicated to Assisting Police Work Dog Teams Throughout the World. We conduct in service training workshops in various states throughout the year and hold a major national workshop in a different state yearly. Officers and their K9's attend these workshops for problem solving, legal updates, new techniques in various phases of police work dog use and certifications to our standards

there were over 30 K9 Units from all over the east coast. Many of the K9 Units came with at least three dogs and trainers. Some of the teams traveled from Connecticut, Virginia and other New York State counties, like Niagra. They ran numerous scenarios through out the woods and village including hostage, gunman, multiple gunmen, tracking among others.

"I think that Bond, Dobey and Steve deserve a BIG thanks and a job well done on another great season at Black Ops Airsoft. These guys have put a lot of time and effort into the field for our enjoyment. They have also sacrificed time away from their families so that we can run around the words and shoot at each every weekend.

So Bond, Dobey, and Steve..........THANKS

I don't want you guys to think that your time, efforts and knowledge haven't gone unnoticed.

Met a lot of great people at Black Ops and hope to meet many more next season. Lets make sure we support these guys so we have a place to play and make the field even better for the 2012 season.

Thanks again guys, have a safe and happy holiday season, see you in March. "

OPERATION: Hazardous Containment 3

Hazardous Containment 3

Black Ops Airsoft hosted the third annual Halloween Event named Hazardous Containment 3. Over eighty players were on the field during the day and night portion. The event started at noon and ran until ten at night. The players braved the cold, windy and rain soaked weather. They marched through the mud to their objectives. In the end the zombie horde once again prevailed and humanity took another step closer oblivion.

Thank you to all the players for coming out and playing in the horrible weather. We hope to see all of you and more at next years Hazardous Containment 4 event.
